CRESSWELL DEMANDS IMPROVEMENT FROM PLAYERS AFTER LIVERPOOL HUMBLING

By Sam Tonks

West Ham full back Aaron Cresswell has demanded more from the Hammers players after Liverpool won 4-1 at London Stadium on Saturday evening.

It was a difficult game for Slaven Bilic’s team but full-back Cresswell has admitted they simply weren’t good enough to combat the challenge of the visitors attacking armoury.

“We are gutted,” said Cresswell.

“We know it’s not good enough and it’s only us that can get us out of it.

“We’ve got a two-week break and we’ve got to put it right on the training ground and turn it around quickly.”

After starting as the brighter side, two goals in two minutes put the Hammers on the back foot, before Manuel Lanzini pulled one back in the second half.

“They’ve got some fantastic players, especially on the break. We knew that was going to happen, it’s hard to come back,” he said.

But the England international understands the reaction needed from himself and his team-mates when they return in front of their home fans on 24th November against Leicester City.

“Every player knows we’ve not been good enough, individually and as a team,” admitted Cresswell.

“All we can do is get back to the training ground and put things right.”
