Matchday Guide: West Ham United V Manchester City

Premier League football returns to London Stadium under the floodlights this Wednesday evening, as West Ham United face Manchester City for the second time in 2017.

The resurgent Hammers have reached tenth in the Premier League table after back-to-back wins, while City will be keen to return to winning ways after first being comprensively beaten by Everton, and drawing at home to Tottenham in the previous round of fixtures.

Hours of play:

Kickoff between West Ham United and Manchester City is scheduled for 19:45, with London Stadium opening the turnstiles for supporters 90 minutes ahead of the match, at 18:15.

Supporters can take advantage of early access drinks discounts inside London Stadium, available for those entering the ground before 18:45.

Hospitality guests for the fixture can enjoy entry to London Stadium one hour earlier, from 17:15.

 

Pre-Match Press:

West Ham will likely hand debuts to two new arrivals - Jose Fonte and Robert Snodgrass for the match, and the former, who won Euro 2016 with Spain, is set to test himself against one of the world’s finest strikers in Sergio Aguero.

“Manchester City have great strikers and one of the best forwards in the world in Sergio Aguero but if we produce a good display it will be an easier day for me,” said Fonte.

“I relish this kind of challenge. I have played against City a few times but it is about the team and not the individual. I hope we can get a good result.”

Fonte represented Southampton at London Stadium in October, and is relishing the opportunity to step out onto the pitch wearing Claret & Blue for the first time.

“It is every players ambition to play in front of a crowd like that every week, I just want the team to make it a fortress,” he said.

“I want everyone to come together and make it a very hard place for the opposing teams.”

Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Aguero, who missed City’s FA Cup win over Crystal Palace with a minor knock, is fit to return to the side to face West Ham.

Fernandinho will also be in the reckoning for a starting place, having served his four-match ban after being sent off against Burnley.

“He [Aguero] trained with the team so he is ready,” said Guardiola.

“Fernandinho is so important. We play a lot of games without him. I am happy he is back. Of course, it is important for us.”

“He’s not an aggressive player. He’s a tough player, intense player. He’s one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met and when you are a nice guy off the pitch you are a nice guy on the pitch.”

The gas works previously taking place on QEOP have now been completed, and the closed bridge south of the Arcelor Mittal Orbit is open for entry and exit as normal.

The West Ham United Shuttle Bus Service will be in operation for disabled guests as normal.

Away fans travelling by supporters' coaches, to reach London Stadium after being dropped in the coach parking, turn right just before Pudding Mill Lane DLR station, before turning left under the railway bridge and walking north, under the greenway toward the away seating at the Stadium.

Members of our stewarding team will be on-hand to direct you toward the Stadium.

Home fans can collect tickets from the West Ham United ticket office, located on stadium island, while away tickets can be collected from the Northern Ticket Office.

Baby changing facilities are available on each level of London Stadium. On an event day, simply ask one of our friendly stewarding team for the closest baby change location to your seat.

 

Lost & Found

Please report all lost or found property to the nearest member of staff at London Stadium. If you are no longer at the venue, please email our customer services team at customerservice@londonstadium.com.

Any found items will be kept for two weeks, before being discarded.

Accessible seating is available on each level at London Stadium, including: aisle seats, seats with few or no steps nearby, seating which have nothing directly in front of them, and those closest to toilet facilities.

Numerous rest areas and benches are located across Stadium Island and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. 

Members of staff from West Ham United’s accessibility teams will be on hand and proactive at London Stadium, as well as providing support on key routes in and out of the venue.

Kindly note that if you have your own wheelchair, it will be left in designated areas at the owner’s risk.

Five windows at the West Ham United ticket office are at accessible height for wheelchair users, and use induction loops to support visitors using hearing aids.

Assistance dogs are welcome into London Stadium, and can stay in wheelchair bays. Kindly note that any assistance dogs must remain with their owner at all times.
