REID SET FOR HAMMERS RETURN IN TIME FOR LIVERPOOL CLASH

A heroic comeback win over rivals Spurs and a point away at Crystal Palace means West Ham will be buoyed as they take on Liverpool under the lights at London Stadium on Saturday.

The Hammers’ first 5:30pm kick-off of the season, in front of the TV cameras, welcomes Jurgen Klopp’s side who have only one away win in the league this season.

The visitors are sixth coming into Saturday’s encounter, whilst West Ham have their eyes on rapidly rising the Premier League table.

Manager Slaven Bilic can welcome the experienced Winston Reid back into the squad after injury ruled him out of the trip to Selhurst Park.

“Reid was injured and Cresswell also went out in the game because of a dead leg,” said Bilic.

“They are fit and they trained today and they should be okay for Liverpool.”

Yet, Bilic is without the options of Pablo Zabaleta through suspension and Jose Fonte, Michail Antonio and Sam Byram with injuries.

“In training we had two injuries for players that won’t make it for Palace, Antonio and Byram. They are both muscle injuries,” he said.

“Sam is out for four to five weeks, Antonio should be fit for Watford after the International break.”

A number of first team injuries is not ideal ahead of a challenging clash but the manager insists the players available are still good enough.

“It happened so quick, so fast, It is part of football but it’s strange because one week ago we talked about having a full squad,” explained Bilic.

“Now we have another few, especially defenders, and it doesn’t look great now in that area of the team.

“But we are in a position to have a good selection and put a good team out.”
