London Stadium Completes Comprehensive Security Upgrades

London Stadium has completed work to upgrade its access control systems, to improve safety and security at the venue, with over 200 existing locations replaced by Synectics Security during the installation. Work was completed on time with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities, as the Stadium welcomed back visitors to a variety of events across the summer and autumn of 2021.

The new system will integrate seamlessly with the state-of-the-art Stadium CCTV technology, allowing for automated coverage when any access point is opened. In addition, Synectics Security’s solution offers advantages for visitor and parking management with features such as automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) for vehicle access and detection.

The improvements will ensure the venue exceeds the highest security standards, across the full calendar of events, from Premier League football to international world-class athletics, concerts, and Major League Baseball. Operations at the venue will benefit from the enhancements, with additional safety coverage for any visitors from Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which surrounds the Stadium.

Graham Gilmore, CEO, London Stadium, said “This important upgrade to the security credentials is part of an ongoing commitment to keeping everyone safe and secure when they visit London Stadium. Operating a multi-event venue requires flexible technologies that not only meet our requirements now, but also in the future. We are pleased to have achieved that with this install.”

After an open tender process, Synectics Security, a leader in the design, integration and support of advanced electronic security and surveillance systems, clearly demonstrated their capability to deliver a fully integrated access control solution with Synectics’ Synergy command and control platform, which meets the Stadium’s security needs both now and in the future.   The award of this contract further increases Synectics Security’s footprint at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Iain Stringer, Managing Director of Synectics Security commented: “We are delighted that London Stadium have chosen our integrated access control solution, alongside our design, programme management and installation capabilities, to upgrade security at such a high-profile sporting venue. Our ability to provide a tailored access control solution, integrating seamlessly with the Stadium’s state-of-the-art Synergy command and control platform provides the perfect foundation to ensure the Stadium can deliver on their commitment to keep all visitors safe and secure.”
